July was good but it’s tough out there.

This is the first of a monthly blog on the reflecting on trends in our business.
  1. Enquiry rates are up 4 fold on this time last year
  2. We are seeing an increased enquiry trend in Building Survey, both Commercial and Residential.
  3. Project management enquiries are down noticeably
  4. Party Wall and boundary disputes are up noticeably many of these enquiries relate to attempts to use the Party Wall Act as a means to frustrate neighbours proposals for alteration, this is a misuse of the legislation.
  5. Access Consulting enquiries are down noticeably
  6. Landlord and tenant enquiries are up significantly
And the conclusion is...
The construction sector has become driven by “must do” reactive work and disputes of all types. Large construction project enquiries have tailed off dramatically and where we are involved in these the pressure on price is very high, Contractors margins are very low indeed. Our professional services continue to grow with 70% of enquires being repeat business or from retained clients.

And the future...
Service and performance are essential elements of our business offer. Ensuring client satisfaction is key to success.
